The Community College Library Directors met prior to the MALC (Michigan Academic Library Council) meeting on April 26, 2001 at Adrian College. Two policy statements submitted by the MCCVLC Library ILL/Doc.Delivery Action Team were discussed and tentatively approved. They both have been be approved by each community college library director.

1. Policy for the Home Institution to Be ILL Provider

"The Michigan Community College Virtual Learning Collaborative home institution library has the responsibility to supply library course support, including initiating and processing ILL requests from the student. Materials will be sent from one library to another rather than directly to the student. Replacement costs for any lost or damaged materials will be determined by the lending library and are the responsibility of the borrowing library."

2. Policy for Free Reciprocal ILL Borrowing Between All Michigan Community Colleges

"Representing a library in the Michigan Community College Virtual Learning Collaborative, we agree to lend Interlibrary Loan materials to other MCCVLC libraries at no cost, including processing, shipping, and handling, except for return shipping. We understand that in exchange, we will not be charged for ILL requests that we submit to other MCCVLC libraries. This agreement applies to ILL requests for any of our students, not just students enrolled in the VLC."
