Degree DescriptionA Vascular Sonographer is a health care professional who uses high frequency sound waves to obtain data and measurements from the ultrasound image of the circulatory vessels in the human body. This data is used by a physician, assisted by the Sonographer, to diagnose and treat various
health care problems. A thorough understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics and pathophysiology is required. This program leads to advanced certification in Vascular Sonography and prepares the student to apply for the Registered Vascular Technologist (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers-ARDMS) exam or the Cardiovascular Credentialing Institute (CCI) Registered Vascular Specialist exam to obtain their credential. There are special admission requirements for the Vascular Sonography program; it is the student’s responsibility to understand the requirements and to adhere to them as listed below and in associated approved documents.
